The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has put to rest recent rumors about the potential relocation of its headquarters from Jos, Plateau State. In an official statement, the ITF dismissed these claims as baseless and reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to maintaining its operational base in Jos, where it has been headquartered since 1976.

The rumors sparked concerns among residents and lawmakers, prompting the Plateau State House of Assembly to take swift action. The Assembly, led by Speaker Naanlong Daniel, unanimously passed a resolution vehemently opposing any move to relocate the ITF headquarters. Lawmakers emphasized the critical socio-economic role the ITF plays in the state, warning of the potential job losses, disruption of training programs, and erosion of historical pride that relocation could cause.

Hon. Theodore Bala Maiyaki, who raised the motion, called on both the state and federal governments to halt any relocation plans and protect Plateau’s federal presence. He highlighted the longstanding partnerships and economic activities tied to the ITF in Jos that underpin regional development and national progress.

In response, ITF’s Head of Press, Thomas Ngor, stressed that no plans for relocation exist within the agency’s management or its governing council. He reiterated the Fund’s commitment to fostering industrial training and economic growth in Plateau State, welcoming continued dialogue with stakeholders to strengthen collaboration.

This episode underscores the importance of ITF’s presence in Jos—not just as a federal agency, but as a vital institution contributing to the socio-economic fabric of the region. The strong stance of both the ITF and Plateau lawmakers reassures the public and stakeholders of continued investment in local capacity building and industrial development.
