In a significant boost to local government operations, the Samuel Ajose Foundation, operating under the CVR banner, has donated laptops, fans, printers, generators, and internet WiFi to all 57 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State. This generous contribution aims to support the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise ahead of the 2027 elections in the state.
The donation event took place at Lagos Island East LCDA, where Samuel Ajose, Chairman of the foundation, emphasized the critical role that efficient voter registration plays in political party strength. He highlighted the challenges voters face, such as long queues and informal fees, which discourage many from registering for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).
To mitigate these challenges, the foundation equipped the LCDAs with essential tools, including six months of pre-installed internet service and cash donations of N200,000 to each secretariat to help run registration processes smoothly. This initiative is expected to encourage more Lagosians to register, ultimately aiming to increase the number of registered voters closer to the state’s population of over 22 million residents.
Prominent political figures expressed high appreciation for the foundation’s intervention. Mayegun Dally-Adeokun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeja and the Conference of 57 APC LGA Chairmen, lauded the donation as a crucial boost toward increasing youth involvement in electoral processes.
Similarly, State Deputy Chairman of the Lagos APC, Mayegun Moshood, described the donation as an extraordinary gesture, urging other stakeholders to follow suit in supporting the electoral process.
Muyibi Folawiyo, Executive Chairman of Lagos Island East LCDA, stressed that the equipment will be strategically placed to ensure accessibility for all Lagosians, regardless of political affiliation, underscoring the foundation’s commitment to a fair and inclusive voter registration drive.
This donation is a commendable step towards strengthening democracy in Lagos State by facilitating the crucial first step of voter registration through technology and infrastructure support.
