Senator Nenadi Usman, the Interim National Chairman of Nigeria’s Labour Party (LP), has outlined a comprehensive plan of reforms aimed at repositioning and stabilizing the party as it prepares for the crucial 2027 general elections. Usman, who was ratified by the party’s National Executive Council earlier this year, emphasized unity, organizational restructuring, and transparent democratic processes as foundational pillars of the party’s revival.
Addressing party members recently, Senator Usman assured stakeholders that the Labour Party is focused on building a people-centered political movement capable of advancing social democracy and delivering good governance. She highlighted the ongoing efforts to conduct ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses to ensure broad-based participation at all levels, culminating in the 2025 National Convention.
Senator Usman also reassured members of the party’s stability amidst challenges and defections, highlighting the backing of trade unions like the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and key political figures supportive of the party’s growth. She called on all members to refocus efforts on coalition-building, effective grassroots mobilization, and disciplined internal democracy.
With a roadmap prioritizing inclusiveness, rebranding, and credible candidate selection, Usman envisions the Labour Party emerging stronger and more competitive in the 2027 polls. The party aims to present itself as a viable alternative for Nigerian voters seeking social justice, economic transformation, and political accountability.
