Political analyst and younger brother of former Ekiti State governor, Isaac Fayose, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) stands a strong chance of winning the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the 2027 general elections due to the political weight of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
Fayose noted that Wike’s rising influence in Abuja, coupled with his grassroots political style, has shifted the political atmosphere in favour of the ruling party. He argued that Wike’s presence in the FCT has not only boosted APC’s visibility but also made the party more appealing to many residents who previously leaned towards the opposition.
According to Fayose, the 2023 elections showed that Abuja was a stronghold for opposition parties, but the dynamics are changing. He maintained that if Wike continues with his current pace of political engagement and infrastructural development, the APC could record unprecedented support in the territory.
He further described Wike as a “political game-changer,” stressing that his influence could extend beyond the FCT and play a critical role in shaping the overall outcome of the 2027 elections.
Political observers, however, caution that the FCT remains a complex political environment, where voter loyalty is often unpredictable. Despite this, Fayose insists that Wike’s political strategies might give APC an edge over its rivals.
