Chief Elebuibon, a prominent Yoruba traditional leader, has called on citizens to refrain from inciting conflicts between the Alaafin of Oyo and the Ooni of Ife, stressing the importance of unity and mutual respect among traditional rulers. In a public statement, he warned that unnecessary disputes could divide communities and weaken the cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.
Elebuibon emphasized that both the Alaafin and the Ooni hold significant spiritual and historical roles, serving as custodians of Yoruba traditions and symbols of community cohesion. He cautioned against using social media or public commentary to fan tensions, noting that such actions could harm social harmony and lead to avoidable political or cultural disputes.
The elder statesman also encouraged sons and daughters of Yoruba land to focus on development, education, and cultural preservation rather than fueling rivalries. According to him, respecting the authority and wisdom of all traditional rulers strengthens communal bonds and ensures the continuity of Yoruba values for future generations.
