Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has set the stage for another culinary milestone as she prepares a test batch ahead of her attempt to cook what is projected to be the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The trial session, held in Lagos, was aimed at perfecting the recipe, testing equipment, and ensuring that logistics for the record-breaking attempt are in place. According to Baci, the exercise was necessary to anticipate challenges, including heat distribution, consistency in taste, and maintaining food quality at such a massive scale.
The chef, who rose to global fame in 2023 after her Guinness World Record cook-a-thon, noted that this latest venture is not just about setting a record but also about celebrating African cuisine and showcasing Nigeria’s culinary creativity to the world. She stressed that the giant pot of jollof rice will be prepared with high-quality local ingredients, feeding thousands of people while promoting Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
Organizers revealed that health and safety officers were present during the test run to ensure compliance with international standards. They also confirmed that invitations will be extended to both local and international observers for the official record-breaking attempt, which is expected to draw massive media attention.
Fans and food enthusiasts across Nigeria have already expressed excitement, with many saying the project further cements Hilda Baci’s status as a cultural ambassador and culinary icon.
