Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have described their party’s forthcoming national convention, scheduled for November 2027, as a “national rescue mission” aimed at restoring hope to Nigerians weary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
The PDP Governors’ Forum, in a communiqué issued after its meeting, said the convention would go beyond party politics to provide Nigerians with a clear alternative to what they termed “years of misrule and failed promises” under the APC.
The governors insisted that Nigerians had endured worsening economic hardship, insecurity, and disunity under the ruling party, adding that the PDP was determined to chart a new course. According to them, the November gathering would be a rallying point to re-energize the party, strengthen internal democracy, and present a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They also criticised what they called the APC’s “anti-people policies,” citing rising inflation, unemployment, and the continued depreciation of the naira as evidence that the country’s economy had been poorly managed. The governors urged Nigerians not to lose hope, assuring them that the PDP was committed to building a more inclusive, secure, and prosperous nation.
The Forum further appealed for unity within the PDP, stressing that only a strong and cohesive opposition could provide the leadership that Nigerians are yearning for.
