Nigeria’s music industry has lost one of its greats as legendary Juju musician, Prince Ahuja Bello, has died at the age of 83.

Bello, who carved a niche for himself in the Juju music scene with his unique rhythm and stagecraft, was widely respected for his contribution to the growth of indigenous music in Nigeria. His songs, often laced with deep Yoruba proverbs and moral lessons, earned him recognition across the South-West and beyond.

The late musician, who started his career in the 1960s, performed alongside other Juju greats and inspired a younger generation of artistes who looked up to his style of music. Fans remember him for evergreen hits that made him a household name in social gatherings, cultural festivals, and community celebrations.

Tributes have since begun pouring in from colleagues in the entertainment industry, cultural enthusiasts, and fans who described Bello as a true custodian of Yoruba musical heritage. Many say his passing marks the end of an era in traditional Juju music.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
