Nasarawa United head coach, Usman Adams Mangut, has assured supporters of the Solid Miners that the team will recover strongly from their recent setback against Niger Tornadoes in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Lafia-based side suffered a narrow defeat to the Minna club in their last league fixture, a result that has generated mixed feelings among their fans who had hoped for a better performance. Despite the disappointment, Mangut remains optimistic, stressing that the season is still young and there is enough time for his team to correct their mistakes and regain momentum.
Speaking after the match, Mangut emphasized that the players showed determination and fighting spirit, even though the final outcome was not in their favor. He admitted that certain lapses in concentration and decision-making cost them valuable points, but he insisted those weaknesses would be addressed on the training ground before their next fixture.
“The defeat is painful, no doubt, but we are not going to allow it to define our season,” Mangut said. “This is football, and sometimes results don’t go your way even when you prepare well. What matters is how we respond, and I can assure our supporters that the team will bounce back stronger.”
He further highlighted the importance of maintaining unity within the squad and urged fans to continue believing in the players, noting that morale and confidence play a huge role in football success. According to him, Nasarawa United has a mix of young talents and experienced players capable of turning things around once they rediscover consistency.
Mangut also praised Niger Tornadoes for their resilience, acknowledging that they made it difficult for Nasarawa United to find their rhythm. However, he believes the experience gained from the defeat will serve as motivation for his side going forward.
Nasarawa United, who are hoping for a much-improved campaign this season after enduring struggles in recent years, will be looking to climb up the NPFL table in their upcoming fixtures. Mangut stressed that the team’s ultimate target remains securing a respectable finish and possibly competing for continental football spots.
The coach concluded by appealing to fans to stand behind the players regardless of the temporary setback. “We need the support of our fans more than ever. Their energy drives the team, and with their backing, we can achieve positive results,” he added.
Nasarawa United’s next league clash will provide a big test of character, as the Solid Miners seek to prove their resilience and get their campaign back on track.
