Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has announced his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Amaechi, who previously sought the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023 but lost at the primaries, said his decision to join the ADC was driven by the need to provide Nigerians with a credible alternative and restore faith in governance.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with ADC stakeholders, Amaechi stressed that the 2027 elections present a critical opportunity to redirect Nigeria’s political and economic trajectory. He pledged to prioritize job creation, economic reforms, education, and national security if given the mandate.

Party leaders present at the meeting welcomed his declaration, noting that his political experience and national outlook would strengthen the ADC’s chances in the upcoming elections. They also assured him of a level playing field as the primary season approaches.

Amaechi emphasized that his candidacy would not be about personal ambition but about service, unity, and building a Nigeria that works for all. He urged Nigerians to embrace fresh leadership beyond the traditional dominant parties, stressing that the ADC would be the platform for genuine transformation.
