The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has dismissed claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that it is manipulating the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The ADC had earlier accused the ruling party of colluding with electoral officials to inflate voter figures in some parts of the state. However, the APC described the allegation as baseless and a ploy by the opposition to cover up its own weaknesses ahead of future elections.
In a statement issued by its publicity secretary, the Osun APC maintained that it has no hand in the operations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing that the registration process is transparent and monitored by relevant stakeholders.
The party urged the ADC to focus on mobilizing its supporters for registration rather than engaging in what it called “cheap blackmail.” It further assured residents that the APC remains committed to free, fair, and credible elections in Osun.
Political analysts, however, note that such allegations and counter-allegations are not uncommon in the build-up to elections, as parties seek to strengthen their positions and discredit rivals.
