Celebrity chef and former Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has announced her latest culinary ambition: to prepare the world’s largest pot of Jollof rice using a staggering 250 bags of rice.

Equipped with a custom-built pot that measures approximately six meters in both width and height and holds over 22,600 liters, Baci intends to fill it about 75–80% full. That translates to around 5,278 kilograms of basmati rice, though she has scaled the amount back slightly for practical reasons.

The event is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park in Lagos. Organized as part of a larger cultural festival, the occasion will blend food, music, and celebration—an open invitation to thousands of attendees. A test batch of jollof rice has already been prepared to fine-tune the logistics and flavor before the main event.

Expected to feed an estimated 10,000 people, the attempt is more than a record chase—it’s a showcase of culinary pride, innovation, and community spirit. Long celebrated for her world-breaking cookathon, Hilda Baci now aims to rewrite history again, this time with Jollof rice leading the narrative.
