The political atmosphere in Gombe State has taken a new turn following the resignation of Alhaji Muhammad Bello Adamu, popularly known as Cikasoro, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The influential figure from Pantami Ward has officially declared his allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Adamu, in his resignation letter, explained that his decision was guided by personal conviction and a desire to pursue a fresh political direction. According to him, the move reflects his commitment to continue contributing meaningfully to the democratic development of the state and the country at large.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunities and experiences he gained during his time with the PDP, stressing that leaving the party was not an easy decision. However, he noted that the ADC offers him a platform that better aligns with his current political aspirations.

The defection has stirred discussions among political observers in Gombe, with many interpreting it as a signal of shifting loyalties at the grassroots level. Analysts believe that Adamu’s influence in Pantami Ward and beyond could provide a boost to the ADC’s structure in the state.

Some party watchers argue that this development underscores the urgent need for internal reforms within the PDP, especially at the local level, where dissatisfaction among members appears to be growing. Others see it as part of a broader pattern of realignments that may shape the build-up to the 2027 general elections.

For now, Adamu’s switch to the ADC is being celebrated by his supporters, who view the move as a bold step toward greater political inclusion and a chance to strengthen alternative voices in Gombe’s political landscape.
