As the PDP gears up for its national convention in November, key heavyweights—led by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and joined by Samuel Ortom, Ayo Fayose, Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and party Secretary Sam Anyanwu—have presented a six-point demand to the National Working Committee (NWC), warning that failure to meet these conditions could invalidate the entire convention.

First on their agenda is the immediate conduct of fresh congresses in Ebonyi and Anambra states, in line with existing court orders. They also demand a legitimate South-East zonal congress be held, while insisting that the South-South congress outcome in Calabar—already upheld by courts—must be honored without alteration.

Local governance matters have not been overlooked. The group demands immediate LGA congresses in Ekiti State, again calling for compliance with judicial rulings. They oppose micro-zoning of party offices, emphasizing that only the general zoning formula previously adopted by the NEC should stand to preserve internal peace.

Crucially, they insist the national chairmanship slot remain zoned to the North-Central region, consistent with the arrangement adopted at the 2021 convention.

Until these preconditions are satisfied, the group warns, any proposed convention risks being perceived as illegitimate and exclusionary—potentially deepening divisions within the party.
