The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has responded swiftly to rising internal tensions within its Ife Federal Constituency chapter following the passage of a vote of no confidence in several senior party figures. In a statement by the State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the party firmly urged all parties involved to halt any action that could escalate divisions and to adhere strictly to the party’s internal conflict-resolution mechanisms.

At the center of the controversy are Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, Professor Wale Oladipo—a prominent member of the party’s Board of Trustees—and the PDP Chairman in Ife East Local Government, Mr. Olasunkanmi Makinde (also known as Benco). The motion, voiced during a constituency meeting, cited alleged anti-party activities, fraternisation with a recent defector, and the alleged use of thugs during party gatherings as grounds for formal censure.

Emphasizing respect and confidence in these leaders, the state PDP described them as foundational pillars whose roles should not be undermined through unilateral actions. The party’s advisory appealed to members to refrain from taking matters public, urging that grievances be formally lodged within the appropriate channels.

In a bid to restore harmony, the State PDP has summoned the concerned stakeholders for a peace-building meeting, aiming to resolve conflicts amicably and reaffirm unity. The call to “sheath swords” and embrace discipline reflects the party’s desire to preserve cohesion and avoid further erosion of civic trust.

With the party preparing for future challenges and important electoral processes ahead, the resolution of these internal rifts is crucial to maintaining its political footing and credibility in Osun State.
