In a blistering critique of the ruling party, former vice-presidential candidate and public affairs analyst Datti Baba-Ahmed has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of prioritizing political maneuvering over tackling the nation’s escalating security crisis.
Baba-Ahmed lamented that the government appears obsessed with recruiting defectors rather than safeguarding communities. He warned that the troubling rise of violence was inching ever closer to the nation’s capital, underscoring a disturbing lack of urgency in protecting ordinary citizens.
He also criticized the presidency’s detachment from reality, noting that the vice president’s public agenda seems reduced to attending weddings and funerals, even as scores of vulnerable villagers are massacred. According to Baba-Ahmed, such showmanship only underscores a disconnect between the government and the lived experiences of Nigerians.
Nigeria, he insisted, cannot remain secure when leaders are more focused on inflating their ranks than confronting attacks on lives and livelihoods. His remarks have struck a resonant chord across civic and political circles, prompting renewed calls for credible reforms and a recalibration of governance priorities.
