The Dangote Group has distanced itself from reports linking its trucks to recent fatal accidents in Enugu State, insisting that none of its vehicles were involved in the incidents.
In a statement issued by the company’s management, Dangote described the reports as misleading and damaging to its reputation. The company emphasized that while it operates a large fleet across the country, every vehicle is properly branded, monitored, and maintained under strict safety standards.
According to the group, preliminary checks showed that the trucks involved in the Enugu accidents neither belong to nor are operated by Dangote. The management warned against wrongly attributing every accident involving articulated vehicles to its fleet, noting that such claims unfairly tarnish the company’s image.
Dangote further stressed its commitment to safety on Nigerian roads, highlighting its ongoing investments in driver training, fleet management technology, and road safety campaigns. The company reassured the public that it will continue to cooperate with relevant authorities to promote safe transportation across the country.
The group also called on the media to verify facts before publication, stressing that irresponsible reporting could misinform the public and stir unnecessary panic. It reiterated its condolences to the families of victims of the Enugu accidents, while urging stakeholders to focus on preventive measures to reduce road tragedies nationwide.
