A devastating fire outbreak in the early hours of Thursday has destroyed a residential building in Oyo State, leaving residents counting their losses.
Eyewitnesses said the inferno started around dawn and quickly spread through the structure before help could arrive. Many occupants were forced to flee for safety, abandoning personal belongings and valuables to the flames.
Although the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, some residents suspect it may have been triggered by an electrical fault. Emergency responders and local authorities have since moved in to assess the situation and provide assistance to affected families.
The Oyo State Fire Service was called to the scene and was able to contain the blaze to prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings. No casualties have been confirmed as of the time of this report, but property worth millions of naira was reportedly destroyed.
Community leaders have appealed to both the state government and well-meaning individuals to support the victims, many of whom have been left homeless. Authorities also urged residents to be cautious with electrical appliances and flammable materials to prevent similar disasters.
