Former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has dismissed claims that the Nigeria Air project was a scam, insisting that the initiative was genuine and pursued in the best interest of the country.

Sirika, who is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), explained that the project was designed to give Nigeria a befitting national carrier, boost the aviation sector, and create more job opportunities for citizens.

He argued that while there were challenges in the implementation process, describing the airline as a fraudulent scheme was misleading. According to him, every step taken was within the law, and all stakeholders were duly carried along.

The former minister maintained that transparency guided the Nigeria Air process, stressing that the controversies surrounding it are politically motivated. He added that the outcome of the EFCC probe would eventually vindicate him and those who worked on the project.

Sirika called on Nigerians to remain patient and not to be swayed by misinformation, noting that the idea of a national carrier is still vital for the nation’s growth in aviation and international connectivity.
