As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) prepares for its convention, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has reminded stakeholders that party unity must come before personal interests or individual friendships. His statement comes amid lingering tensions within the PDP, with figures like Nyesom Wike and others often linked to internal disagreements.
Fintiri stressed that the convention should serve as a platform to heal divisions rather than deepen them. According to him, the PDP has faced several setbacks in recent years, and what is needed now is reconciliation and collective focus on rebuilding the party’s strength ahead of future elections.
He explained that personal grievances, rivalries, or old political battles must not be allowed to overshadow the bigger picture, which is the survival and relevance of the PDP as a formidable opposition. For him, the task of repositioning the party is far greater than the ambitions or conditions of any single individual.
The Adamawa governor further called on delegates and party members across the country to put aside sentiments and rally around the shared vision of restoring the PDP’s dominance in Nigeria’s political landscape. He warned that without unity, the party could risk losing credibility in the eyes of Nigerians.
Fintiri’s message underscores the importance of building bridges and prioritizing inclusiveness, especially at a time when citizens are yearning for an alternative voice in governance. By placing unity above personal ties, the PDP stands a better chance of regaining trust and positioning itself as a strong contender in coming elections.
