The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved a sum of ₦1.8 billion to fund the continued education, rehabilitation, and reintegration of the Chibok girls rescued from captivity. This allocation is part of the Chibok Girls Intervention Programme, coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, running through to 2027.

Currently, 108 rescued girls remain under government care, with 68 enrolled at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) in Yola, an institution owned by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. The funding will cover tuition, accommodation, feeding, vocational training, medical care, psychosocial support, and other necessary provisions to ensure a holistic rehabilitation process.

Despite political differences, the government remains committed to sustaining the educational journey of these young women, viewing it not only as a financial obligation but as a moral responsibility to restore their dignity and provide a hopeful future. The initiative reflects a broader national pledge to transform a tragic chapter in Nigeria’s history into a story of resilience and empowerment.
