Abia State Governor Alex Otti has issued a stern warning to any politicians contemplating electoral malpractice ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state. Speaking during his monthly media chat in Umuahia, Governor Otti cautioned those plotting to rig the election to abandon such plans or be ready to face severe consequences, saying, “If you truly want to rig, you should write your will first.” The governor made clear that the people of Abia State will not tolerate intimidation or manipulation of their mandate.

Otti also highlighted intelligence reports indicating some political figures are already strategizing to unlawfully influence the election results. He admonished politicians against early campaigning, emphasizing that campaigns should only start once the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially releases the timetable. Early campaigns could lead to disqualification.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to a free, fair, and credible electoral process where Abia citizens will ultimately decide who governs them. He urged respect for the law and the electoral system, underscoring that no amount of manipulation would override the will of the people.
