The Nigerian Army has apprehended a man suspected of acting as an informant for bandits terrorizing communities in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State. The suspect, identified as Abubakar Ibrahim, also known as Abim Ndamitso, was arrested at his residence in Tsaragi community on Wednesday.
According to reliable sources, the arrest is part of a broader crackdown aimed at dismantling the logistical and intelligence support network that facilitates bandit activities across Kwara North. Alongside Ndamitso, another individual was detained but later released following an investigation that found no evidence of wrongdoing.
The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with local vigilantes and informants, is intensifying efforts to rid the area of criminal elements that have caused widespread insecurity through kidnappings, attacks, and other violent acts. Several other suspected informants have been arrested across Edu Local Government Area, with some reportedly confessing to their role in aiding bandits.
The ongoing security operations underscore the Nigerian Army’s commitment to restoring safety and order in Kwara State. The arrested suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, with the military urging the public to provide timely and actionable intelligence to support their mission.
This development represents a critical step in combating banditry and enhancing security for residents in Kwara and neighboring regions.
