The member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, has vowed to prove his dominance within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that he remains the party’s foremost leader despite ongoing political coalitions.
Speaking on Saturday, Abejide said he was prepared to demonstrate that his position as the “landlord” of the ADC could not be undermined by the entrance of political heavyweights such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and former Senate President David Mark, who have all been linked with new political alignments.
He noted that while the coalition movement is gaining attention across the country, his political structure within the ADC is deeply rooted, especially in Kogi State, where he has consistently delivered electoral victories.
According to Abejide, leadership in the ADC must be earned through proven capacity and electoral strength, not just by political influence or name recognition. He maintained that he would resist any attempt to sideline him in the party’s affairs.
The lawmaker, who has been vocal about strengthening the ADC’s role as a viable alternative to the ruling and major opposition parties, emphasized that his loyalty lies in building the party’s grassroots support base and expanding its reach ahead of the 2027 general elections.
