The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has convened its 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja as part of ongoing preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Party leaders, governors, lawmakers, and key stakeholders gathered to deliberate on pressing national issues, review the party’s performance in recent elections, and outline strategies aimed at positioning the PDP as a formidable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to sources within the party, the NEC session focused on strengthening internal unity, resolving lingering factional disputes, and fine-tuning plans for nationwide mobilization ahead of the next electoral cycle. The leadership emphasized the importance of presenting a united front, noting that disunity had cost the PDP crucial victories in the past.

National Chairman of the party, Amb. Umar Damagum, urged members to put aside personal differences and work collectively towards rescuing Nigeria from what he described as the APC’s “mismanagement of the economy and governance failures.” He added that the PDP remains the only political platform with the structure and experience to restore stability and prosperity to the nation.

The NEC also deliberated on upcoming congresses, the party’s stance on national policy debates, and ways to engage more young people and women in the political process. The meeting comes at a time when the PDP is intensifying grassroots mobilization to regain lost ground and challenge President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
