The Federal Government has announced that Nigerians will soon be able to obtain their passports within one week, following the implementation of new reforms aimed at tackling delays and inefficiencies in the processing system.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed this while addressing journalists on the Federal Government’s commitment to improve service delivery at the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). He noted that the reforms are designed to eliminate long waiting times, curb corruption, and ensure that every Nigerian receives their passport within seven days of application.

According to the Minister, the new policy will be backed by improved technology, streamlined processes, and stricter monitoring of officials to ensure accountability. He emphasized that the days of waiting for months to obtain a passport will soon be over, adding that Nigerians deserve a more efficient system.

He further assured that the government is also working on enhancing border security and migration management while continuing to support Nigerians in the diaspora.
