Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has expressed optimism that Nigeria’s national football team still has a strong chance of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their shaky start in the qualifying campaign.

Siasia, who guided Nigeria to Olympic success in the past, urged fans not to lose hope, stressing that qualification is still within reach if the players and coaching staff can show greater determination and consistency. He noted that although the Super Eagles have dropped crucial points in their opening matches, the road to the World Cup is a marathon, not a sprint.

According to him, Nigeria’s chances remain bright because there are many games left to play, and with the right tactical adjustments, discipline, and team unity, the squad can bounce back. He also emphasized the importance of focus, saying that the Super Eagles cannot afford further slip-ups if they want to secure one of Africa’s qualification slots.

Siasia called on both the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the players to work together in harmony, adding that strong preparation and proper management will be key in ensuring that the team delivers when it matters most.

The Super Eagles are seeking to return to the World Cup stage after a disappointing outing at the 2022 qualifiers, where they failed to secure a ticket to Qatar.
