Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, senator representing Sokoto South and former governor of Sokoto State, has revealed that the plan to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections is a national consensus involving leaders and stakeholders across Nigeria.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Tambuwal emphasized his full commitment to working within a lawful and democratic process aimed at ending Tinubu’s administration. “I am fully involved in a process — democratically and lawfully — that will end, by the grace of God, in sending this government out of office,” he said.

Addressing speculation that the coalition against Tinubu is a northern Nigeria agenda, Tambuwal dismissed such claims, pointing out the diverse leadership involved. “Is Peter Obi from Northern Nigeria? Is Rauf Aregbesola not from Osun State?” he challenged, emphasizing the national character of the movement.

Tambuwal stressed that the opposition coalition, which includes notable figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rauf Aregbesola, and Rotimi Amaechi, transcends regional and ethnic lines and represents a collective desire for change through constitutional means.

He criticized the current administration for not delivering the expected dividends of democracy and downplayed the perceived invincibility of incumbent presidents. “It is not cast in stone that Bola Tinubu may not lose in 2027,” Tambuwal asserted, calling claims of Tinubu’s unbeatable power “rubbish.”

The former governor highlighted that the coalition’s efforts are focused on addressing governance failures rather than personal animosity. “It is not about Bola Tinubu. It is about the way he is running the country,” Tambuwal noted.

This united front signals a game-changing political shift as Nigeria approaches the pivotal 2027 elections. Tambuwal’s statements underscore the determination of opposition leaders to offer Nigerians a credible alternative and usher in a new chapter for the nation.
