The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly dismissed claims made by former Sokoto State Governor and current Senator Aminu Tambuwal regarding a purported national consensus to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. In an official statement released on Sunday, September 7, 2025, APC Lagos described Tambuwal’s remarks as unfounded and an attempt to “rewrite the obvious truth.”
According to the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, the narrative that opposition leaders from various parties are united in a plan to defeat President Tinubu is “laughable” and driven by selfish ambitions rather than genuine commitment to good governance. Oladejo emphasized that rather than focusing on divisive rhetoric, APC under Tinubu’s leadership is committed to delivering tangible results for Nigerians.
The spokesperson highlighted ongoing efforts by the government to create jobs, fix the power sector, build critical infrastructure, and reform the economy. He urged Nigerians to recognize and support good governance and assured that come 2027, the electorate will reaffirm their trust in a leader who delivers on promises.
Furthermore, the Lagos APC accused Tambuwal and other opposition figures of engaging in “political blackmail” and failing to provide credible alternatives or effective leadership within their parties. The statement called out opposition leaders for their “internal contradictions” and inability to unite meaningfully, which poses challenges to mounting a formidable challenge against the ruling party.
The party reiterated its confidence in President Tinubu’s administration, noting that the focus remains on strengthening institutional democracy, rebuilding the economy, and repositioning Nigeria for sustained progress.
This robust response highlights the heightened political tensions as the 2027 elections approach, with the ruling APC countering claims from opposition members accusing the government of attempts to destabilize their ranks.
