The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a fierce rebuttal against former Sokoto State Governor and current Senator Aminu Tambuwal, describing him as the “problem of the opposition” ahead of the 2027 general elections. In response to Tambuwal’s claims of a supposed national consensus to unseat President Bola Tinubu, the ruling party’s Lagos State chapter accused the opposition leader of misleading Nigerians and diverting attention from his own political and legal challenges.
Speaking through Lagos APC spokesperson Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the party dismissed Tambuwal’s remarks as baseless and a desperate attempt to rewrite the political narrative in favor of an opposition coalition that is, according to them, riddled with internal contradictions, greed, and selfish ambitions. Oladejo asserted that the opposition remains rudderless, unable to forge a coherent strategy given competing interests and clashing ambitions among key figures such as Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Goodluck Jonathan.
The APC spokesperson warned that Tambuwal’s focus should instead be on addressing allegations from anti-graft agencies relating to his tenure as governor, rather than engaging in divisive politics. He highlighted that President Tinubu enjoys broad-based support across Nigeria’s ethnic, religious, and regional divides—support firmly rooted in a record of good governance and actionable policies.
Oladejo expressed confidence that Nigerians would reaffirm their mandate to Tinubu’s administration in the 2027 elections, praising ongoing efforts in economic stabilization, infrastructure development, and power sector reforms under the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. According to the party, opposition antics, including Tambuwal’s claims, amount to little more than “political blackmail” and distraction from real national progress.
Further criticizing Tambuwal and other opposition leaders, the APC accused them of failing in their responsibilities to provide effective leadership and credible alternatives. While opposition politicians air grievances and sow discord through media narratives, the ruling party claims to be delivering tangible benefits to Nigerians.
This exchange underscores the heightened political tensions as Nigeria approaches a crucial electoral cycle, with the APC consolidating its governance record and the opposition striving to mount a united front.
