Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has successfully completed her Guinness World Record attempt for cooking the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice. The event took place at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on September 12, 2025, drawing thousands of fans, celebrities, and dignitaries.

The enormous pot measured six meters in diameter and held a staggering 4,000 kilograms of basmati rice, 500 cartons of tomato concentrate, 750 kilograms of oil, and 600 kilograms of onions. Originally planning to use 250 bags of rice, the team adjusted the quantity to 200 bags to stay within the 20,000-kilogram limit of the measuring equipment.

The cooking session lasted over eight hours with Hilda Baci leading the effort alongside ten assistants dressed in red, stirring the massive dish with giant wooden paddles. The event featured live music, DJs, and was packed with excitement as the crowd gathered to witness history in the making.

Notable personalities in attendance included Ogun State First Lady Bamidele Abiodun, actress Funke Akindele, socialite Enioluwa Adeoluwa, and TikTok star Peller, among others. Many applauded Baci’s determination and dedication to celebrating Nigerian culture and cuisine on the world stage.

Emotional moments were shared when Baci broke down in tears after reading online messages of encouragement, showing how deeply moved she was by the overwhelming support.

The Guinness World Records organization has acknowledged the attempt and will thoroughly review the documentation before officially confirming the new record. This achievement not only highlights Baci’s culinary prowess but also shines a spotlight on Nigerian hospitality and cultural pride.
