Indonesia has publicly reaffirmed its strong support for Qatar and Palestine during the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit held on September 15, 2025, in Doha, Qatar. The summit was convened following Israel’s recent attack on Qatar’s capital, an act widely condemned by Muslim nations as a serious breach of international law and a threat to regional peace.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, representing President Prabowo Subianto, addressed the summit with a firm stance against Israeli aggression, calling the attack a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and an assault on international peace and negotiation processes. Sugiono expressed Indonesia’s continued solidarity with Qatar in facing these challenges and praised Qatar’s role as a mediator committed to achieving peace in the region.
Reaffirming Indonesia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, Sugiono stated, “There will be no lasting peace without the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.” He urged the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, to act decisively to prevent further aggression and uphold international law.
The summit brought together leaders and representatives from 22 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League, signaling a unified front against what was termed Israeli “hostile acts.” The leaders collectively condemned the attack and pledged ongoing cooperation to promote peace and stability within the Middle East.
Indonesia’s participation at the summit highlights its diplomatic commitment to justice, sovereignty, and the rights of oppressed peoples, emphasizing that the Palestinian issue extends beyond territorial disputes to encompass dignity and international legitimacy for all peoples of the region.
