The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has vehemently criticized Senator Aminu Tambuwal, describing him as “politically dead” amid growing tensions with opposition figures. This came after Tambuwal accused President Bola Tinubu and the APC of orchestrating efforts to destabilize opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a forceful response issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC dismissed Tambuwal’s allegations as baseless, labeling him and other opposition leaders as lacking credible leadership and offering no viable solutions to Nigeria’s challenges. According to Morka, Tambuwal and his peers are more focused on attacking the APC than strengthening their own parties, which are plagued by internal divisions and defections.
The APC also expressed confidence that Nigerians remain supportive of President Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing ongoing efforts to rebuild the country’s economic foundations and deliver good governance. The party warned that the opposition’s predictions of APC’s defeat in 2027 are mere political blackmail that ultimately will backfire.
Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives and ex-Governor of Sokoto State, had earlier described the push to unseat Tinubu as a national consensus, challenging narratives that framed it as a regional agenda. However, the APC rejected these claims, affirming that Nigerians overwhelmingly endorsed Tinubu’s leadership in the 2023 elections.
This latest exchange highlights the deepening rivalry between the ruling party and opposition forces as Nigeria edges closer to its pivotal 2027 general elections. The outcome of this political feud will likely shape the country’s governance and democratic trajectory in the coming years.
