Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, the 2023 PDP governorship candidate in Lagos and leader of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, has issued a strong warning to former President Goodluck Jonathan, asserting that he cannot match President Bola Tinubu’s political strength and influence ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Jandor emphasized that Tinubu’s courage and leadership have solidified his position nationally, making any political challenge from Jonathan unlikely to succeed. Jandor pointed out that Tinubu’s administration has achieved significant economic milestones, including reducing Nigeria’s debt-to-revenue ratio drastically and growing the GDP by 4.2 percent, surpassing IMF’s projections.

Jandor also dismissed calls for Jonathan to enter the presidential race, urging him to focus on his past contributions rather than contesting a political landscape heavily dominated by Tinubu and his allies. He described Tinubu as a political “colossus” capable of commanding votes nationwide, not just in his traditional strongholds.

Despite his firm stance, Jandor also affirmed his own ambition to run for Lagos governorship in 2027, ready to compete in the political arena with sincerity and dedication. He welcomed the candidacy of Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son, stating that the party should rally behind whoever emerges as the APC flagbearer.

As the 2027 election season builds momentum, Jandor’s comments highlight the intense rivalry and high stakes likely to define Nigeria’s political future.
