The street, named “Adekunle Kosoko Street,” was unveiled in a heartfelt ceremony attended by the singer, his wife Simi, and their daughter Deja on Lagos Island.
Adekunle Gold shared the emotional moment on Instagram, expressing gratitude and pride: “Adekunle Kosoko Street. The city that raised me now carries my name. Thank you Lord for my many blessings.” This honor holds deep historical significance as Adekunle hails from the Kosoko royal family, descendants of the 19th-century Lagos monarch Kosoko.
The naming not only celebrates his outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s music industry but also highlights the cultural and historical heritage he carries. Recently, Adekunle Gold released his sixth studio album, ‘Fuji,’ paying tribute to legendary traditional musicians, further cementing his versatility and respect in the industry.
