The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has reassured Nigerians and party members that the APC is prepared to welcome more defectors from opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking during recent engagements with stakeholders, Yilwatda emphasized that all defectors will be accorded equal rights and treated fairly within the party, regardless of their previous affiliations.
This assurance comes amid a surge in defections from parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). According to Yilwatda, this trend reflects growing confidence in the APC’s leadership under President Bola Tinubu and its vision for national development.
Highlighting the inclusiveness and unity within APC, the chairman noted that defectors, from governors to ordinary members, would fully integrate into party structures and contribute meaningfully to governance and political stability. Yilwatda urged all members to remain loyal and focus on the party’s mission to transform Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to lead a grand reception for new defectors, reinforcing the party’s commitment to inclusivity and cooperation ahead of the critical polls. The APC leadership views this wave of defections as a significant boost to its political strength and electoral readiness.
