Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, the beloved Arise TV anchor who was tragically killed during an armed robbery at her residence in Abuja in September 2025, was laid to rest on Saturday at her hometown in Agulu, Anambra State. The solemn funeral service took place at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Agulu, drawing family, friends, colleagues, and prominent visitors, including the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
The late Somtochukwu, fondly known as Sommie, was just 29 years old and widely regarded as a rising star in Nigeria’s media landscape. Her death was met with shock and grief across the nation, with many remembering her professionalism, warmth, and engaging presence. During the funeral mass, Rev. Fr.
