Despite the political differences between former Anambra Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo, a faction of Peter Obi’s supporters in Anambra have endorsed Soludo for a second term in the November 2025 governorship election.

Led by Ikenna Azomchine, known as the Obidient General, this group within the Obidient Movement explained that their endorsement is based on a careful assessment of Soludo’s performance in office. They cited his integrity, credible leadership, and visible progress in governance as key reasons for their support. Azomchine said, “We are disciples of good governance, and we have made the decision to support Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for a second term. We made this decision obediently, considering the qualities we hold as Obidients—integrity, performance, credibility.”

The supporters noted that they have not been influenced by monetary inducement or bribery, asserting that their backing was motivated by conviction and the desire to see genuine progress in Anambra State. They believe Soludo is best positioned to consolidate ongoing developments and sustain the state’s growth momentum.

Azomchine also pointed out that many Peter Obi supporters in Anambra are members of APGA, Soludo’s party, emphasizing that their political loyalty does not prevent them from supporting a candidate who has demonstrated effective governance. They are optimistic that a second term for Soludo will further strengthen the state’s socio-economic development.

This endorsement reflects a pragmatic approach by some grassroots supporters who prioritize performance and results over rigid political affiliations, underscoring evolving dynamics ahead of the Anambra governorship election.
