The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has officially inaugurated an interim caretaker executive committee to oversee the party’s activities and prepare for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The inauguration, which was ratified by the ADC National Working Committee (NWC), signals a new phase of consolidation and political repositioning for the party within the state.

Barrister Sadiq Dasin, a former Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and ex-federal legislator, was appointed as the interim chairman. In his acceptance speech, Dasin expressed deep gratitude to party leaders for entrusting him with this critical role. He described his emergence as a “child of necessity,” emphasizing his commitment to fostering unity and inclusivity among party members. Dasin pledged special focus on empowering youths and women within the party structure, acknowledging their vital contributions to political progress.

The interim leadership was formed amid previous internal challenges but has been widely acknowledged as legitimate, with the party’s national leadership under Senator David Mark assuring strict adherence to constitutional provisions. ADC’s zonal vice chairman for the North East, Babachir Lawal, who also inaugurated the committee, warned against any indiscipline or defiance and urged members to prioritize peace and party cohesion. He reiterated the party’s resolve to uphold discipline, noting that disagreement must never degenerate into destructive behavior.

Party stakeholders in Adamawa expressed optimism that the new leadership committee, which includes a 44-man interim executive, will successfully streamline party operations and mobilize grassroots support as the party gears up for the 2027 elections. Additional efforts will center on halting Nigeria’s drift toward a one-party state by strengthening ADC’s political structure in the region.

The interim leadership’s formation represents a strategic step to resolve past tussles and unify the party ranks, with the expectation that a substantive executive committee will be elected following due process. As the ADC builds on this foundation, its Adamawa chapter hopes to emerge stronger and more influential in state and national politics.

The ADC leadership urged all party members and supporters to rally behind the interim committee and work collectively toward reclaiming political space and delivering positive change for the people of Adamawa and Nigeria at large.
