The political tension in Osun State intensified as the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed over recent remarks made by Governor Ademola Adeleke concerning President Bola Tinubu. The controversy stems from Adeleke’s comments on Tinubu’s administration, which have sparked heated responses from both party camps.

Governor Adeleke, a PDP member, had commended Tinubu’s efforts in national security and democratic governance in previous statements but also voiced concerns about the Federal Government’s alleged unfair treatment of Osun State, particularly regarding the withholding of local government funds.

The Osun APC swiftly reacted, accusing Adeleke of politicizing developmental issues and warned him to “prepare your handover note,” implying that his tenure may be coming to an end. The APC further suggested Adeleke’s critiques were influenced by partisan interests rather than genuine concern for the state.

In response, the Osun PDP defended their governor, accusing the APC of trying to suppress dissent and distract from governance failures at the federal level. They called on stakeholders to focus on collaborative development efforts instead of political mudslinging.

This exchange highlights the deepening divide between the ruling APC and opposition PDP in Osun State as the 2027 elections draw near, reflecting broader national political rivalry and competition.
