Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has highlighted that the recent loss of three councillorship seats by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state serves as evidence of the fairness and transparency of the local government elections. Speaking in Minna, the state capital, Governor Bello noted that the electoral process was conducted in a free and credible manner, reflecting the true will of the people.

He emphasized that the APC welcomes the outcome of the elections, regardless of the losses, as it demonstrates a mature democratic practice where competition is encouraged, and the results are respected. Governor Bello dismissed claims of rigging or malpractice, assuring that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the state electoral authorities upheld electoral integrity.

The loss of the seats, according to the governor, should be seen as a healthy indication of political pluralism and participatory democracy at the grassroots level. He further appealed to all political parties and candidates to work harmoniously after the elections to promote development and peace within the councils.

Governor Bello also commended the residents of Niger State for their patience and cooperation during the polls, which were relatively peaceful despite heightened political activity across the state.
