Sammy West, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has been officially remanded in Keffi Prison following a court ruling by a Dutse Magistrate. The arrest and remand stem from allegations including criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying. According to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Sammy was apprehended after ignoring several police invitations for questioning related to a petition filed against him and three others.
The police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, emphasized that the arrest was lawful and followed due process, with investigations duly concluded before Sammy was charged and subsequently remanded. The developments have sparked a wave of reactions across social media, with Regina Daniels publicly accusing her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, of manipulating the justice system to intimidate her through her brother’s arrest. Regina has alleged that this move aims to coerce her into submission amid an ongoing family feud.
Hours after the remand news broke, Regina Daniels was seen visibly distressed, sharing tearful posts on social media conveying the immense emotional toll the situation has taken on her. Meanwhile, her brother Sweezy has publicly raised concerns over the treatment Sammy is receiving in detention and has criticized the circumstances leading to his remand.
The police command has denied any political influence or bias, reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and justice. The case remains ongoing, and Sammy is expected to be held at Keffi Prison until November 28 pending fulfillment of bail conditions.
