Njaba South Stakeholders Forum: A Call for Unity, Active Participation, and Progressive Leadership

The historic Njaba South Stakeholders Forum (NSSF) Leadership Summit held on August 9th, 2025 in Owerri, Imo State, has set a new precedent for collective leadership, unity of purpose, and political integration across the Akah Nation. The summit, the first of its kind, brought together a rich blend of political leaders, community heads, technocrats, captains of industry, legal minds, women leaders, youth representatives, clergy, and interest groups across the 10 autonomous communities under Njaba South Development Area/Center.

The gathering was marked by powerful speeches, reflections on past leadership, and renewed calls for active political participation as the surest path to development and transformation.

Hon. Ifeanyi Agumba’s Keynote: A Message of Unity, Vision, and Hope

Delivering the Keynote Address virtually, Hon. Ifeanyi Agumba (PhD in view), former National Delegate for Njaba Constituency and respected political figure, opened with gratitude to God for the gift of life and the opportunity to unite in pursuit of a greater future for Njaba South.

He praised the vision behind the forum, noting that it is “a platform conceived in vision, built on courage, and sustained through unity.” Despite his physical absence, he emphasized that his heart, spirit, and commitment remain deeply present in Njaba South.

He also recognized present leaders and torchbearers including Dr. Obinna Duriji, Chief Okey Durubgor, Joshua Akagusim, Ichie Marshall Ezihe, Hon. Dr. Hyman, as well as influential businessmen and women of Umuaka whose efforts continue to drive political and social progress.

Building the Njaba of Tomorrow

Hon. Agumba urged the people to view political participation as “watering the tree of progress”, reminding them that development does not come by accident but through deliberate, united action.

He envisioned a Njaba South where:

  • Children receive quality education at home,

  • Farmers access modern tools and markets,

  • Entrepreneurs thrive with infrastructure and support,

  • The elderly are cared for with dignity,

  • Youths find opportunities within their homeland.

“This is not utopia,” he declared. “It is achievable, if we unite, participate actively, and put Njaba South first.”

The summit also featured thought-provoking contributions from leaders across different spheres:

  • Rt. Hon. Chuma Nnaji – represented by Hon. Chief Okey Durugbor (former Vice Chairman, Njaba LGA), emphasized reflection on the past, unity of purpose, and the formation of a political Think Tank Group to articulate the people’s needs.

  • Rt. Hon. Adikibe Protus Duru (Deputy Leader, Njaba Legislative Council) – praised the forum’s vision, urging people to unite and continue mobilizing support for Governor Hope Uzodimma (Onwa Oyoko) and his transformational policies.

  • Chief Vitalis Obi (Executive Chairman, Njaba LGA) – represented by Rt. Hon. Chigozie Ibenjo (Leader, Njaba Legislative Council), reassured the people of his unwavering commitment to unity and progress, promising that no community in Njaba will be left behind.

  • Hon. Mrs. Rhoda Ukam (House of Assembly Member, Njaba Constituency), Hon. Ebonine Ozioma Worship, Chief Vincent Egbuchilem, Hon. Victor Ubasinachi Obioha, Hon. Iheanyi Akunesi, Hon. Chief Kenneth Obioha (Chairman, Akah Governing Council), Chief Martin Nwagbara (Head of Umuaka Traditional Worshippers), and Nze Marcellinus Ahunanyaekwe Obiagwu all made impactful contributions.

Closing the summit, the Secretary-General, Comrade Johnkennedy Ezerie Okpoko, thanked participants for their overwhelming turnout and reassured them of their rightful place as stakeholders in shaping Njaba South’s future.

The Njaba South Stakeholders Forum concluded with a resounding commitment: Njaba South First. The message was clear — unity, active participation, and consensus building are the non-negotiable foundations for achieving meaningful development.

As Hon. Ifeanyi Agumba so powerfully declared:
