The founding chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Edozie Okorie, has issued a strong warning against proposed salary increases for Nigerian politicians. Okorie cautioned that approving higher pay for lawmakers and government officials could ignite widespread public outrage given the current economic hardships faced by many Nigerians.

Highlighting the growing disparity between political elites and common citizens, Okorie stressed that such a move could further erode trust in government institutions. He called on policymakers to prioritize policies that improve the welfare of ordinary Nigerians rather than focusing on enriching themselves.

The APGA founding chair’s statement reflects ongoing debates across the country about governance, accountability, and the appropriate compensation for public servants amid inflation and rising living costs.
