The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over what it described as irregularities in the recently released pre-registration figures of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the Southwest.
In a statement issued by the party’s leadership, the ADC expressed concerns that the figures provided by INEC appeared inconsistent and raised doubts about the transparency of the ongoing voter registration process. The party emphasized that such discrepancies could erode public trust in the electoral system and compromise the credibility of the 2027 general elections.
The ADC called on INEC to provide a detailed explanation of how the pre-registration data was compiled and to address concerns of possible manipulation or errors. The party further urged the commission to ensure that the process of voter registration across all regions of the country is transparent, fair, and accessible to all eligible citizens.
According to the ADC, voter registration remains the bedrock of credible elections, and any gaps or inconsistencies must be addressed immediately to avoid disenfranchising millions of Nigerians. The party also appealed to civil society groups, election monitors, and other stakeholders to closely scrutinize the process and hold INEC accountable.
Political observers note that the ADC’s demand reflects growing concerns among opposition parties about the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral processes as the countdown to 2027 intensifies.
