The All Progressives Congress (APC) is bracing for an influx of new members defecting from opposition parties, with the party leadership assuring that all defectors will be granted equal rights and opportunities within the party framework. National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda said the party is preparing to welcome more defectors, emphasizing that inclusiveness and unity are key pillars in strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Professor Yilwatda highlighted that many politicians from various opposition platforms, such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), have shown interest in joining APC after becoming convinced by the party’s vision and policies under President Bola Tinubu. He reassured all new entrants that the APC is committed to fairness and will treat every member, regardless of when they joined, with respect and full political rights.
The chairman called on existing APC members to embrace newcomers, warning against factionalism and emphasizing cohesion as paramount for political success. He also outlined plans for a formal reception of defectors led by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, reinforcing APC’s image as a united front poised for a strong showing in the forthcoming elections.
This clear message reflects APC’s strategic efforts to consolidate political influence through an expanding membership base while reassuring both old and new members of equal treatment and inclusion.
