The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has vehemently rejected the forecast made by Prof. Udenta Udenta that the party would collapse before the 2027 general elections. In a strong statement issued on Wednesday, the APC described the prediction as “cheap, empty talk” and theatrics devoid of factual evidence.

Prof. Udenta, the founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, had made the claim during a TV interview, asserting that the APC is a fragile structure on the verge of collapse. He criticized the party’s governance, accusing it of deepening Nigeria’s crises across economic, security, and institutional fronts. Udenta also alleged that the APC had weaponized state institutions like INEC and the judiciary to entrench its dominance.

Responding, APC spokesman Mr. Seye Oladejo challenged the credibility of these claims, saying the party’s growth and organizational strength have only increased over time. Oladejo urged Prof. Udenta to observe the party’s active grassroots structures and the commitment of millions of Nigerians involved in progressive governance.

“Predicting the fall of a party from a studio chair does not make the forecast true,” Oladejo said, emphasizing that Udenta’s comments were driven more by wishful thinking than political reality.

The APC reiterated its confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and its readiness to face the 2027 elections. The party affirmed that it stands on achievements in economic reforms, security, and infrastructural development which continue to solidify its support base across Nigeria.

As Nigeria approaches a crucial electoral cycle, the political climate remains charged with competing narratives, but the APC insists it remains strong and united, ready to serve Nigerians beyond 2027.
