The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its official timetable and fees schedule for the 2026 Osun State governorship election, signaling the start of intense political activities in the South-West ahead of next year’s contest. The announcement was made by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, at a briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

The election preparation process will formally commence with the issuance of an election notice to the Osun State chapter on Friday, October 3, 2025. Following this, the APC will conduct an update of its membership registers from October 20 to 31, during which only fully paid-up members will be eligible to participate in party activities.

Prospective governorship aspirants will be required to purchase the expression of interest and nomination forms between November 12 and 26. The fees set for these forms are ₦10 million and ₦40 million respectively, making the total cost ₦50 million. However, the party has waived the nomination form fee for women and persons with disabilities, who only need to pay for the expression of interest form. Young aspirants aged between 25 and 40 will benefit from a 50 percent discount on the nomination form fee.

Aspirants will undergo screening on December 3 and 4, while the party’s primary election is slated for Saturday, December 13. Appeals will be addressed on December 14. The official campaign period for the governorship polls will open on March 11, 2026, and is expected to peak around August 6, just weeks before the general election.

The 2026 Osun governorship election is shaping up to be highly competitive. Current Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who won the 2022 election, is expected to seek re-election, setting the stage for a rematch with the APC. For the APC, reclaiming Osun is critical for consolidating its influence in the South-West, a vital political region for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

With the unveiling of this detailed electoral timetable and the substantial nomination fees emphasizing seriousness, the APC is preparing for a robust internal contest and an energetic campaign ahead of the Osun governorship election in 2026.
