The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has issued a dramatic ultimatum to Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, demanding clarification within 24 hours over allegations that he has fraternized with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The party accused Abaribe of sidelining APGA and engaging in activities that promote ADC interests despite occupying his Senate seat on the APGA platform.

In a statement released after a caucus meeting in Umuahia, APGA’s Publicity Secretary, Chukwuemeka Nwokoro, revealed that the senator organized meetings at his event center in Aba on August 18 and September 23, where ADC activities were reportedly promoted over APGA. More controversially, the ADC’s Abia State secretary reportedly identified Abaribe as a card-carrying member and a leader within ADC in the state—an assertion Abaribe has neither confirmed nor denied.

APGA emphasized that Nigerian law forbids dual party membership and warned that the senator’s continued association with ADC constitutes a breach of the party constitution. The ultimatum demands that Senator Abaribe publicly refute or confirm these claims within 24 hours or face prompt disciplinary actions.

In response, Abaribe’s media aide described the ultimatum as unfair and speculated to be based on unverified rumors. He affirmed Abaribe’s commitment to APGA and suggested that defection, if any, would be formally communicated by the senator himself.

This development unfolds as APGA prepares to intensify its campaign for the 2027 general elections, aiming to defend and expand its influence in Abia State. The party insists it remains structurally sound, unified, and focused on winning elections despite ongoing political realignments in the region.
