Godwin Owulo, the immediate past Zonal Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue South Senatorial District, has announced his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Owulo made the decision public amid a growing wave of defections from major political parties in Benue State, reflecting shifting allegiances ahead of upcoming elections.
The defection took place against the backdrop of the ADC’s increasing influence in Benue South, particularly following a notable mass defection event earlier in 2025 where thousands of members from PDP, APC, and other parties joined the ADC. Owulo’s move is seen as strategic, with the ADC presenting itself as a vibrant alternative platform for political actors dissatisfied with traditional party structures.
Owulo expressed optimism about ADC’s prospects and commitment to grassroots engagement and democratic principles. His defection marks a significant blow to PDP’s dominance in the zone and signals intensified political competition leading up to the 2027 general elections.
